The popular 110 bedroom Four Star Canal Court Hotel in Newry provides restaurants, bars, function rooms and a leisure facility with pool, spa and gymnasium.
The Hotel was faced with ever increasing utility costs and decided to concentrate on reducing water consumption. The hotel engaged the services of International Synergies NI Ltd on the recommendation of the Newry Chamber of Commerce. The consultant conducted a detailed water audit at the hotel over a number of days to determine where water was wasted and where water and effluent could be saved.
As part of the water audit, International Synergies NI analysed water bills going back 7 years to check that they were accurate. International Synergies also provided a simple analysis spreadsheet that is used to track water charges and allowances. Recommendations included:-
Fitting flow restrictors to wash hand basin taps
Fitting reduced flow shower heads
Eliminate the use of continuously running taps in kitchens
Reducing water pressure in the pumped water supply system
Regular recording and analysis of water meter readings
This audit identified low cost water saving measures that will save over £13,000 in water charges annually.
In conducting the audit, International Synergies generated a rebate of £17,000 and future water and effluent charges will be reduced by over £2500 annually.
“We manage very popular and successful hotels in Newry and in Co Louth but are not experts in water efficiency. We were delighted with the water audit service that International Synergies provided and the rebates and cost savings that they were able to secure on our behalf. I would happily recommend International Synergies to other businesses faced with high water and effluent costs.”
