Joint Food Drink and Hospitality event a collaborative success

This event was a joint venture between Invest NI Knowledge Transfer Network team, Queens University and the Industrial Symbiosis service. The morning consisted of a series of presentations outlining the benefits to business of being involved in Research and development, a very brief introduction to Industrial Symbiosis benefits to business and finally a presentation from William Dukelow from DOE, Environmental Policy Division about future changes in Food Waste Legislation and its impact on businesses. His slides are available here. 36 businesses then took part in the new “fasttrack” resource matching format and identified the following potential opportunities:

Potential Synergies Identified –197

Potential landfill diversion –21,488 tonnes

Potential Cost Savings -£384,000

We are used to unusual requests but this is the first time we have been asked to find a HEARSE. To find out that it is wanted in the JUNGLE is even more scary. And it gets worse! The Jungle also wants meat hooks, old laboratory glassware, a piano and old tailor’s dummys. Contact us if you can help with any of this or want to find out more.
