The Sustainable Ireland Awards held at the Crowne Plaza Belfast in November, saw the who’s who of the industry join to recognise and celebrate the successes of environmental performances.
This marked our second year sponsoring the Industrial Symbiosis Award with Invest Northern Ireland. The Award is aimed at companies that harness the principles of Industrial Symbiosis to achieve real cost savings and environmental benefit.
In a year of exceptional entries Camden Group won the award. The award recognised Camden’s commitment to the economy and environment and demonstrated their ability to efficiently manage their resources.
Camden approached IS practitioners to find regular sources of post-production and post-consumer uPVC. This was so that the material could be recycled to produce their Inliten range of uPVC frames, avoiding the use of new raw materials.
For another solution required, Camden approached the IS practitioner in relation to maintaining equipment that was being outsourced to France. The practitioner sourced a local specialist in purpose built machinery to supply a bespoke piece of equipment. This brought the maintenance in-house, removing costly transportation costs and supplier fees.
